What may seem like an inconvenience, may actually be an invitation.

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and rain drops tapping my window seal. Usually, the sound of birds chirping at four, five, and six in the morning is super annoying. Especially when it’s that good sleep. I’m talking mouth wide open, drool on the side of your face, dead to the world kind of sleep. When you’re in that kind of REM space, and it’s interrupted by three or four different bird chirps and raindrops knocking on your window; it can be a bit of an inconvenience! I’m the type of sleeper that once my eyes open, I’m all the way up!

I said all that to say, this morning was different! Usually I wake with an attitude and put the pillow over my head and ears to block the sounds, and I kick the pillows and throw a silent tantrum because it’s still dark and I technically have some more time that could have been dedicated to sweet sleep. Ok, I digressed again. Sorry! This morning was different. I was not annoyed or agitated. I didn’t grab the pillow and put it over my face and ears. I didn’t have a silent temper tantrum. I had an overwhelming sense of calm. I laid there for a few minutes listening. The birds were in harmony with the raindrops. I inhaled and exhaled. I took a moment to feel the breeze caress my skin that was coming in through the open window next to bed. It was serene.

In that moment, I realized it was God! The book of Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” God speaks to us in so many different ways even through sound and nature. He used a donkey to speak in the book of Numbers, you don’t think He can use a bird and rain?!? Read your bible, friend!

How amazing is it that God takes delight in us and sings over us. Like a natural parent that dotes over their children, and sing lullabies to soothe them. That’s the same sentiment that God, Abba our Heavenly Father has toward us. He takes moments to get our attention to remind us that He is with us, that He loves us, that He is proud of us, that He delights in us. What an awesome way to start the morning! With this reminder.

Sometimes what may feel like an inconvenience, is actually a divine intervention from God to get your attention. When this happens, take a moment to position yourself to receive what He’s saying and doing.

Let’s Pray:

Abba Father, thank you for kissing us with your love and for singing over us. Help us to see you in everything. In every situation. In every moment. Help us see you through difficulties. Help us see you when we feel inconvenienced. Help us to trace you when we can’t see you. We don’t want to miss you because we are expecting you to move in a certain way. We take you out of the box and open our hearts to receive you in what ever way you desire to meet with us. We love you, we honor you, we give you all the glory because you are worthy. In Jesus might and matchless name, Amen.
